Doubling Down on Closinglock’s Series B: Funding to Power and Protect Real Estate Transactions

It was only a little over a year ago that Headline led Closinglock’s Series A. Since then, the company has continued on an incredible trajectory - protecting over 1 million real estate transactions and preventing $1.2B in fraud losses since its inception. Today, we are excited to announce Closinglock’s $34M Series B led by Sageview Capital, with continued support from Headline. 

Closinglock provides a real estate wire fraud prevention and payments platform that enables independent title agencies and settlement companies to give their customers and ecosystem players (homebuyers, sellers, lenders, and agents) a centralized and secure portal to complete purchase transactions. This is critical as identity theft and real estate fraud have been on the rise: according to the FBI, nearly $500M in funds were stolen in 2023, 50x more than a decade ago, as cashier’s checks are being replaced by online money movement. 

When we initially invested, we were impressed by the growth, customer love, and the long-term vision of Closinglock: to provide a safe and reliable network for the transfer of data, payments, and communication between multiple parties in the broader real estate ecosystem (title, escrow, homebuyer, mortgage company). In the short time since, the execution and product progression of that vision by Andy, Weston, and Sushma have been remarkable. The product developments, including insured payments, Good Funds payments, strengthened identity verification functionality for both buyers and sellers, and a partnership with J.P. Morgan well position Closinglock to monetize the $2T annual flow of incoming and outgoing payments in residential real estate. 

Closinglock was founded in 2017 by Andy White and bootstrapped until the seed round led by LiveOak Venture Partners in 2022. Headline led the Series A in 2024 and is participating in the Series B led by Sageview Capital.
